The Los Angeles Rebellion Rugby Football Club is the first rugby club in Southern California that welcomes players, coaches and supporters of all ages, races, genders and sexual orientations.
Club History
Who Are We?
The Los Angeles Rebellion Rugby Football Club is a rugby club
unlike any other in Southern California. Like the people
of the City of Angels, we come from many different walks of life
but are brought together by one thing: the love of the game of
Rugby. Our club is inclusive of all who would like to partake
in the fun, on and off the pitch, regardless of skill level, age,
body size, race, nationality, or sexual orientation. We're all
out to play rugby and have a good time. So, if
you’re looking for an aggressive sport with a healthy side of
Guinness, check it out. You might even stick around.
The Club will strive:
To ensure that it develops the self-confidence and motivation of
all its players
To field a team that plays and enjoys competitive rugby in Southern
California and around the world.
To supply an alternative platform for those desiring to play social
rugby.
To provide training at various levels to advance the abilities of
all players joining the Club
Competition
The LA Rebellion RFC competes in two rugby leagues as full and
active members. Division III of the Southern California Rugby
Football Union, which is known for its nationally recognized teams
and the London based, International Gay Rugby Association &
Board which is a worldwide Rugby league dedicated to encouraging
lesbians and gay men everywhere to play rugby.
Additionally, the L.A. Rebellion RFC competes in The Bingham
Cup as well as many tournaments around the country including The
Huntington Beach Tournament, Pasadena Tournament, Seattle Quake
15.0 Tournament.
Coaching
For the 2008, the Rebellion was lead by Head
Coach-Gary Patterson. Coach Patterson is returning to
lead the L.A. Rebellion RFC for the 2007-2008 Season. The Rebellion
will also be coached by Rebellion veteran Will
Tabor.
Practices
Practices are held Tuesday and Thursday night at Penmar
Park (Venice), and Sunday morning at
Bronson Park (Under the Hollywood Sign). All practices
and team events are listed on the team’s website.
